EOS is the Faculty Association of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the VU University Amsterdam. EOS has around 1400 members. EOS organizes activities around its three pillars study, fun and business. A membership is completely free of obligation. Besides 80 activities a year, you also get a discount on study books and can buy summaries.
You can register via the website. To become a member you must study at the Faculty of Social Sciences. Under the heading become a member! You can find the registration form. For a membership you pay 15,- per year. You can become a member of EOS at any time during the academic year. The contribution is paid by means of a direct debet.
For people who do not study at the Faculty of Social Sciences, we have a special members called ‘Friend of EOS’. As a Friend of EOS you pay each year a contribution that is at least the annual membership fee for members (fifteen euros). As a Friend of EOS you are welcome to all EOS-activities and General Members Meetings and you are allowed to participate in certain committees. No. For the membership of EOS you only have to fill in the registration form once. Your membership is automatically renewed every year until the moment of unsubscribing.
You can find EOS at the VU Campus in Amsterdam. On the second floor we have a members lounge called FoyEOS (HG-02A03). This room is open every working day from 10:00 to 16:00. In addition, our boardroom (HG-02A61) is also located on the second floor. It is open from 10:00 to 17:00 from Monday to Thursday. On Friday it is open from 10:00 to 16:00.
No. EOS has no obligations. Participation in activities is on a voluntary basis.
As an active member, you participate in one the many committeess. You organize activities together with your fellow committee members around the three pillars study, fun and business. You get to know a lot of your fellow students and it is also a good way to expand your resume. The committees start twice a year, in September and in February. Keep an eye on our Facebook en website for information about te application process.
You can buy your study books and summaries every weekday at the EOS-desk which can be found in FoyEOS (HG-02A03). The desk is open every day from 10:00 to 16:00. If you want to purchase a book or summary outside these hours, please contact one of the board members. In addition, you can also order books via the website. If you do, you can then pick them up in FoyEOS.
You can unsubscribe via the website. Under the heading members you will find the unsubscribe form. Cancellation before the next academic year must take place before the date communicated by the treasurer of the board every academic year. After that, your membership is renewed automatically and the contribution is collected. The contribution can not be refunded.
When you cancel your membership, you can sign up as an Alumnus/Alumna or as a Friend of EOS. Alumni will be informed of EOS activities and former study mates have the possibility to meet each other once or twice a year during one of our EOS activities, which are especially organized for Alumni, by our Alumni Committee. EOS feels that graduates of the Faculty of Social Sciences are a great asset to the student association. The sharing of experiences and contacts by our Alumni are a great part of this value.
Friends of EOS are EOS Alumni or people involved with the Faculty which no longer study, but still want to stay connected with EOS. Friends of EOS pay a yearly fee which they can decide themselves. Next to a lot of good karma, you will also benefit in other ways by becoming a Friend of EOS.
